Sean P. Linton, CPA, CITP

Technology Consulting

Sean started his career in the US Navy before pursuing his accounting degree. After college, Sean performed financial statement audits for several years with a large national CPA firm. During this period, he found a passion for control auditing and made the switch from numbers to controls full-time. With a broad base of experience in multiple audit disciplines, Sean offers a well-rounded approach to technology consulting. He specializes in System and Organization Controls (SOC) examinations, building strong foundations of trust with his clients and striving to implement creative ways to test controls when standard approaches are no longer viable.

He brings experience working with a full range of organizations from small investment firms to large international corporations. Over the years, he has performed fieldwork in France, India and Hong Kong with international teams. These experiences have allowed him to become versed in international reporting and compliance frameworks in addition to his strong working knowledge of US reporting guidance and regulations.

Sean is an instructor and technical reviewer for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ SOC program. In these roles he helps to develop and deliver new content for SOC practitioners across the US. He also chairs a Report Acceptance Body for the Minnesota Society of Public Accountants’ peer review program.

Professionally, Sean enjoys training other CPAs on the practice of SOC examinations and mentoring colleagues who are new to the profession. In his free time, he harkens back to his Colorado roots searching for outdoor activities such as fishing, canoeing or hiking with his wife and four young children.
