Cory J. Markling, CFA

Director
Transaction Advisory Services

Biography

Prior to entering the Transaction Advisory Services arena, Cory worked in New York at a global investment bank focusing on high yield bond issues and research for institutional buyers in the oil and gas space. After deciding New York didn’t quite feel like home, Cory switched gears, headed back to Minnesota and started his career in Transaction Advisory Services at a national public accounting firm.

Today, as the Director of Lurie’s Transaction Advisory Services, Cory advises his clients on matters related to acquisitions and capital investment, encouraging them to think and act like an institutional investor. He teams closely with the firm’s Partners providing counsel and execution on matters that extend beyond mergers and acquisitions. His background and expertise working at a global investment bank allows him to not only look at each transaction from an accounting perspective, but also from an investment and risk perspective. What excites Cory the most is helping clients put capital to work; watching the capital investment grow over time, leading to jobs, opportunities and better communities. Quality of earnings, valuations, working capital, and transaction structure only scratch the surface of his capabilities. Whether a company is buying, selling or strategizing for the future, Cory brings a unique set of financial eyes to advise in the due diligence process.

What does Cory enjoy more than Transaction Advisory Services? Being outdoors, training and hunting with his two black labs, fishing, or at a local sporting event cheering on his favorite teams.
